The Chartered Institute of Professionals Printers of Nigeria (CIPPON) has set pace for the next generational leaders of the industry with its leadership challenge programme.
This information was made know to the public during the CIPPON President’s virtual and physical chat with the media and industry practitioners on October 1, 2020 to commemorate Nigeria independence and set tone for the institute one-year anniversary, annual general meeting and convention of the current Council of the Institute.
According to the President and Chairman-In-Council, Mr. Olugbemi Malomo, the leadership challenge initiative was born out of the urgent need to restructure the leadership structure of Nigeria printing industry whose major challenge over the years has been leadership challenge and for us to preserve the industry, the need for this programme becomes paramount.
On the criteria for choosing beneficiary of the Leadership Challenge, Malomo said the programme is open to anyone identified by others with leadership qualities in his/her community/cluster. He went ahead to advise stakeholders not to only propose anyone they deem fit for the position but they should also aim for leadership position in their field. “It is imperative for us to prepare our future leaders in this industry”, he said.
His words: “The current council is clear on its goals and aspirations in ensuring that institutional integrity and accountability is at the forefront of what we do and in attaining institutional integrity – which is not only the way the public perceives us, but also the way we perceive ourselves, our ethics, the way we conduct our business. The truth is that we cannot achieve institutional integrity without having a way leadership can evolve”. Malomo said
On the ongoing clusters formation in different zones, Mr. Malomo said Why should printing jobs go outside when together, we could harness our potentials, ready and able to deliver whatever may be the client’s request. According to him, as much as we will keep the advocacy for the patronage of our members on the front burner, exploring all possible avenues to ensure the protection of our interests, we will no doubt continue to talk to ourselves, in terms of keeping with the best quality, the best business ethics. “I urge all proud practitioner of this noble profession to join hands with us in this fight. This will involve a lot of sacrifice; the gratification may delay in coming, but I have no doubt that it will come”. Malomo said.
