Canon Showcases Cutting-Edge Digital Production Print Solutions at Drupa 2024

Under the banner of ‘The Power to Move,’ Canon is highlighting its collaboration with partners and customers to deliver transformative technologies, expertise, and support at drupa 2024, running until 7 June in Düsseldorf. Visitors can explore Canon’s extensive range of production print technologies, including PRISMA workflow solutions, print media, inkjet and toner presses, web-fed and sheetfed presses, flatbed and roll-to-roll wide format printers, and digital label and packaging production.

Canon’s production solutions are organized by industry segments, such as commercial print, publishing (including books), promotional communications (including direct mail and retail), labels and packaging, interior décor, and in-house and CAD printing. In the ‘Printworks’ area, visitors can engage with Canon specialists to discuss strategic and operational challenges. They will also discover how Canon supports print service providers with innovative technologies, expert advice, and comprehensive implementation capabilities, from solution design to project management, process automation, service, and support.

Expansion of the Sheetfed Portfolio

Making its European debut at drupa is the new varioPRINT iX1700 sheetfed inkjet press, available in 2025, designed to handle average monthly volumes from 300,000 to 1.5 million A4 images. Positioned between the successful varioPRINT iX3200 B3 sheetfed inkjet press and the imagePRESS V series of color toner presses, the varioPRINT iX1700 aims to meet the needs of various production volumes. Additionally, Canon introduces the varioPRESS iV7, a new heavy-duty B2 sheetfed press capable of producing up to 4.5 million B2 images per month, with first installations planned for the second half of 2025. These additions enhance Canon’s comprehensive portfolio of sheetfed technologies for diverse business sizes and production volumes.

Expansion of the Web-Fed Portfolio

In the high-volume inkjet segment, Canon is launching the new ProStream 2000 series and the ColorStream 8200 webfed inkjet presses at drupa 2024. The ColorStream 8200 is showcased in a smart book-block end-to-end solution, a collaborative innovation between Canon and Hunkeler, advancing automated on-demand book production. The ProStream 2133 webfed inkjet press will demonstrate its ability to produce direct mail, books, and magazines in variable formats, showcasing its productivity, quality, and versatility.

Innovations in Labels and Packaging

Canon is underscoring its commitment to the label and packaging markets with live production of various applications, including labels, corrugated, and folding cartons. The event features the first live demonstration outside Japan of the new LabelStream LS2000 water-based digital label press, set for 2025 availability.
