HIGHLIGTHS FROM AGFA DRUPA VIRTUAL EVENT

AGFA hosts a 6 days virtual event the exact time DRUPA was supposed to hold (Studio 4D48), June 18 – 26, 2020; displaying sessions to support printing companies worldwide through the current business challenges and help them plan for the future.

The first day of the virtual event focused on resolutions for packaging printers who make use of the Agfa VLF (very large format) to carry out their jobs as demanded by their clients and customers. We could deduce from the first day of the event that unlike before there are actually no requirements for able bodied men, as there is now an Automatic Plate loading system with the use of robot.

According to in-dept study; one of the shortcomings of Very large Format is handling can be very difficult, it takes 3 – 4 people to mindfully carry the plates in order to avoid scratch and enable well positioning, thus the creation of Automation robot loading for VLF CTP to make work easier and carriage very easy.

Some of the benefits of loading with robot are; to make better use of production output by increasing effectiveness and reducing cost, to bring in division of labour into operation so you can focus more on other task to accomplish as an employee.

Also, the software Apogee now has released its version 12. The new apogee 12 permits multiple impositions on a job, automation optimization, page manipulation, reduces paper wastage and it is also upgradeable. The inktune option is said to save cost for the press and still guarantee quality output.

Furthermore, the virtual event addressed the commercial sheetfed market as they spoke about the newly introduced AGFA offset plates. The Phenomenon which is also referred to as the Eclipse is a process free technology with easy printing without stress with great image contrast, high scratch resistance and eliminates the use of processor.

Another introduction was on the Adama plate, on it end, it is referred to the next generation chemical free plate with the excellent performance for demanding commercial printing application based on patented Thermolink Technology.

Adama combines an image quality of 240 LPI sublime run length; 350,000 copies and 750,000 copies with UV inks. According to report reaching us the plate is compatible with most platesetters in the market.
