Following the mandate to create jobs on the continent and tackle unemployment in all industries including the print, The Chief Executive Officer, CEO of Red Media Africa, Mr. Adebola Williams has launched another phase of African internship programme tagged: The Future Africa internship programme (FAIP) in collaboration with the Lagos State Chamber of Commerce and Industry, LCCI.
Williams has publicly revealed its intention to train 1,000 young Nigerians to embrace new opportunities and help the country in its quest to solve the unemployment challenges among its teeming youths.
According to Williams, the initiative was developed in order to take entrepreneurship to the next level and develop enterprises for the next generation to build upon. “The Future project has been at the vanguard of empowering young people; and equipping them with the requisite skills to stand toe-toe with their counterparts all over the world”. He said
During a news conference on the collaboration, the President of Lagos State Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mrs. Toki Mabogunje stated that skill mismatch was one of the major contributors to persistent worsening of Nigeria’s unemployment situation. “The training was part of the efforts to improve the country’s employment rate”. She said
The initiative is anchored on the conviction that Africa’s growth requires a generation of skillful and highly productive young minds. This will also aid economic sustainability between school curriculum and the industry”. She added
Furthermore, she said that the initiative will train youths under the Future Africa Internship programme for three to six months on N150,000 monthly.
Reacting to this initiative, Williams Instagram follower identified as Kemi Martin said: “Be deceiving yourselves there, you people have a propensity for deceit, as if we all don’t know that it is bad governance and ineffective structure of government that is causing the massive unemployment, instead of you to tackle the root cause, you prefer to go a wild goose chase.
Don’t fix the structure, go and create jobs. The work force that telecoms created from 1999 to 2010, where are they? They have been exported to Canada! Why? Receive sense into that your red cap wearing head and stop chasing the wind. Face the problem. Face the root cause”. She said aggressively.
